This is the gateway of Garden of the Gods created by the north and south gateway rocks.  These towering rocks like gigantic plates of a dinosaurs spine just seem to grow out of the ground from nowhere.

The North Gateway Rock, probably the largest and tallest of all the rocks in Garden of the Gods towers an impressive 350 feet above its base.  The line of plate like rocks line up from north to south creating a gateway between the east and the west.  If one positions themselves in the right place to the east of the garden, then the natural gateway created by these rocks creates a frame through which you see the famous Pikes Peak.

Everyone who is in the area, or just passing through should take a day, and go to Garden of the Gods park, and enjoy the scenery and the hiking trails. garden of the Gods is open all year round, closed only for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day, and it is free.  It is suitable for all age groups and all members of the family.
